SUPERMAN - three things sell papers
From now on, I'm going to be posting all my random entries on Tumblr. (At least that's the plan.) It's this nifty bloggish online scrapbook thingy that lets you easily post notes, photos, video, links, and quotes from the web, IM, or your phone... basically, it's kinda like LJ and Twitter had an amazingly gorgeous Web 2.0 love child.

Anyway, let me know if you join so I can follow you!

And if you'd like to follow from here, I created a syndicated feed: [info]tumblrbrat.
DEFAULT - me reading
This paper was written for my tenth grade English class, in response to an assignment to write a short story parodying the style of J.F. Cooper (author of The Leatherstocking Tales, including The Last of the Mohicans). I wanted to publish this here last summer when I re-read The Last of the Mohicans (and laughed right through it, remembering writing this), but I realized I'd accidentally deleted it from my computer. I found the hard copy with my teacher's comments in a box today and almost squealed out loud, I was so excited!

If you're not familiar with his work, Cooper's style is complicated to the point of near-unintelligibility by his use of passive verbs, sobriquets, names for inanimate objects (especially weapons; I believe Natty Bumppo's rifle is referred to as "Killdeer"), ridiculous situational escalations, exaggerated word choice (people don't walk, they "bound"; weapons aren't thrown, they "quit someone's hand"), and frequent moralizing.

Although Jake was cognizant of the fact that physical altercations inside the structure which had been constructed for the purpose of learning would meet with a severe castigation, when the final affront tumbled from Ned's oral cavity, he was forced to issue a physical rejoinder. )
